Salman Khan's superhit movie Dabangg won the National Award for the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 58th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi on Thursday (May 19) and the star was more than happy to receive the news.In an interview Salman said, "Before getting any award, people had seen Dabangg and liked the movie too. That was the first award we got. Now the government has also given us an award."
His father Salim Khan, an ace film writer, could not hide his happiness after news came, saying credit goes to his family and everyone else behind the venture.
"The news about the honour has yet to sink in. We are thrilled by the national recognition," Salim Khan said about the honour for Dabangg, which was produced by son Arbaaz Khan and featured son Salman Khan. Salman seemed concerned about superstar Rajinikanth's health. He said, "Thanks to God he is ok now."
